Eccentricity....

Eccentricity is not, as dull people would have us believe, a form of madness. It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.

Leader of the Free World - Performance Review Time

Quoted from Deb Riechmann, AP via Forbes.com: "President Bush worked nearly three hours at his Texas ranch on Thursday to design a new U.S. policy in Iraq, then emerged to say that he and his advisers need more time to craft the plan he'll announce in the new year."

Clearly these guys don't know what needs to be done with a Priority One Problem? You know in most professional capacities, the responsible parties would need to work 24/7 until the solution was in the process of being implemented, if not completed and proven successful. Hmmm.... On the other hand we have here the Leader of the Free World... and after half a decade of bumbling about, we stage a three hour meeting, [drumroll here], then the readout goes something like "Gee this is a tough one...er...we don't know quite what to do...uh can we get back to you on that..."

I don't know about yours but most companies would have long ago terminated them for non-performance... Wake up America...

Appendix - Setting Priorities In Problem Solving

[.. the following, excerpted from Implementing Problem Management Processes at the Helpdesk Using the Business Process Method by By John M. Kundtz, ISSC Networking Consulting...]

Priority indicates how urgent it is that a problem be fixed. Priorities along with severity are the basis for determining what problems are worked on what sequence with what level of resource.

Four priority levels can be established based on the urgency to resolve the situation.

Priority 1 Work on continuously until resolved. There is a willingness to devote extra resource to ensure the quickest possible resolution time. Priority 1 is usually only used for severity 1 situations, but can be used if there are multiple severity 2s or significant exposure as a result of the problem. A target time for completion should be set, typically this is around 2 hours.
Priority 2 Actively work on until resolved. The target for resolution time should be defined and documented in a table of severity and priorities. Priority 2 should typically be used for severity 2 situations, plus severity 1s which have adequate redundancy and recovery which will hold for an interim time, plus severity 3s which are occurring with some frequency or which have exceeded their expected resolution time. Generally, a priority 2 resolution target should be one day or less.
Priority 3 This is reserved for problems which must be fixed within a reasonable time pre-set for the type of problem, but which can be handled routinely. This usually might be a component down or procedure unusable but with alternatives available. Default resolution target time might be 4 days. Failure to meet the goal would result in upgrading to priority 2.
Priority 4 Problems in this category are typically going to be worked on when resources are available. Deferred maintenance is expected, alternatives are routinely available, and there is minimal exposure. A target resolution default might be 7 days, but in many cases the expected resolution will be set in the future.

Allow me to introduce you to 'Your true self'...

I am writing this from the passenger seat of my SUV. My son is driving as we are returning from a holiday visit with family in Atlanta, GA, USA. In what struck me at the time as a good application of technology, I used my Wireless EVDO connection on my MacBook Pro to get online while rolling down the highway...

So here I am... The message I needed to share with you is that you are a spirit being made up of three elements - the conscious, the sub-conscious and the super-conscious.. In addition to these elements, you have a physical body, a meat puppet that is alive and linked to your tri-part true spiritual self. The goal of life as a human on this reality plane is to live to the fullest extent possible so that your physical body is in as much alignment with the vision held by the spiritual self. In parallel with seeking this state of being, you seek to clarify the unity with universal purpose of the spiritual selves vision. Over time this strategy will elevate the core vision to ever higher perspectives while honing the manifestation of that vision on the physical plane.

"To thine own self be true."

Violence Mars PlayStation 3 Launch

Violence Mars PlayStation 3 Launch

Gunman robs Whitehall Township, PA teen

Man injured in PlayStation 3 melee

...and so on...several other examples made the news, many more probably did not...

This is a microcosm of what is really wrong across the face of our so called "civilization". The pursuit of goals, activities and objectives that are as "virtual" as the "reality" that those gamers will experience in the PS3 "world". The abstraction of existence and life itself away from the core of our real interaction with the universe and our planet... This is why we can fight wars over ideaologies, or even over a percieved "ownership" of a piece of land or its resources. The very concept of a "nation" is a virtual reality. We are a life form who find ourselves on a rock hurtling through space but we think that, for example, the end of this world will be somehow predicted by the arbitrary and virtual reality that is a calendar followed by a subset of our population. After all, if you get far enough above the surface of the planet, there is only one day.

Victor Wooten plays the bass, and now, writes a novel...

Keep your eye out for a novel, written by bassist extraordinare, Victor Wooten. His book "shares some ideas" by following a student and their teacher through lessons in music and life. ...more info here...

By the way his show November 3rd (my birthday, yay!) at the Chicago House of Blues venue never failed to amaze the assembled fans. Featuring jaw-dropping guitar work by his brother Reggie, the non-stop avalanche of Victors incredible and tasteful musicianship was a sheer joy to behold...

People should not be afraid of their governments...

Life belongs to those that are aware... Is this a world guided by love? ...or is this a world guided by greed? Each of us in our own lives by our choices add a grain of sand to one of these beaches...or perhaps... a domino to a setting waiting for the chain reaction...

Two media events of note...check these out...think about it...think...about...it...Thinking is not illegal...yet...

V for Vendetta is a rather intriguing surreal but all too real masterpiece from the guys that brought you the Matrix series. I am a big fan!!!

Loose Change, a documentary, is the work of a 22-year old. It tells an alternative back story to the 9-11 tragedy. Let me be honest... I am not certain that this film is literally accurate. I am blogging it to raise peoples awareness that there may be alternate explanations for the things that go on in this world of ours. I certainly am not suggesting that voting Democratic will solve anything... If any of this is factual, it not only points to the flaws of individuals but to the flaws in our system that allowed things of this nature to be done. But while this would be horrific to contemplate, I fear that this would not be the first time that this kind of thing may have been done, and am deeply saddened to know that it probably won't be the last.

Where does the wind blow...? Please add comments to this post with your opinion of these movies...

You know, this thing called life is so remarkable!   We are all here on this little rock we call the Earth, soaring through the universe...  We take so much for granted but this existence is truly a gift...a very temporary gift...  In the scheme of things, our lives are like the flash of a fireflies light on a lazy summer evening...  Each of us glows just for an instant, and we are gone...  At the same time, from our frame of reference, we need to focus on the moment, each and every moment, like it was our first, and our last...  Experience each moment for the wondrous event it truly is and move on to the next...living each one fully because we will never pass this way again...

Challenge yourself...

If you really want to find out how good you are, leap into a situation where the competition is really tough. Step out of your comfort zone and try to go somewhere beyond your wildest dreams. So many of us find an niche, wallow in and get comfortable, making our daily routine as snug as a favorite pair of well-worn old slippers. Take a lesson from the truly successful, you must stretch to grow...

Creativity...

What is the meaning of this? What does it mean to be "Creative"? I feel that all of us, each and every one, has this innate capacity. No matter who you are, at some point you have "created" something that was uniquely yours, don't you agree. Why do we call some people creative, and others, we don't?

The artist brings us something, a painting, a song, a dance, a building, a computer program, that somehow captures a vision from their unique minds eye or soul's view and makes that splendid perspective able to be experienced by others.

We witness the wonder of artistic creation in these things.

Parasites, Pollution and False Nutrition...

The avoidance of disease is an afterthought in today's medical industry...if it is considered at all. The fact is that until education and proper lifestyle choices become the central focus of health care, we will remain locked in the ever-deepening spiral of growing suffering, avoidable illnesses, unnatural deaths and record setting financial burdens that makes daily headlines. In this modern affluent country, with the level of expenditures that are purportedly targeted to the improvement of our nations health, there is no legitimate reason for our nation to experience the dire consequences of the root causes of poor health. The overwhelming majority of health problems are directly attributable to the health "axis of evil": Parasites, and the harmful bacteria and viruses that form their symbiotic ecosystem; Pollution in all its forms, from benzene, prescription drugs, air, soil and water contamination and self-pollution with alcohol, tobacco and other self-pollution, legal and otherwise; and the abominable effects of False Nutrition; a diet at best devoid of the proper natural balance of nutrients and at worse laced with harmful growth hormones, pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. These are the reasons we become ill. The medical profession creates an entire bewildering language and complex taxonomy of illnesses and maladies that serve to obfuscate these root causes. They then devise expensive and proprietary so-called "treatments" that target the symptoms of the illnesses that ultimately arise from the evil interoperating triumvirate of Parasites, Pollution and False Nutrition... Because their techniques target symptoms, and don't address the root causes, in many cases, extensively documented time and again, these treatments actually cause more devastating effects than the illnesses they claim to ease or "cure".

What is the solution? Seek answers for yourself. End the era of blindly accepting whatever course of treatment the medical profession prescribes. Question their authority, and demand explanations devoid of jargon and gibberish that pass your own internal sense of validity. Take responsibility for your own health, because in the end, you are the one that will have to live, or die with the consequences of your choices, not your doctor.

Medicine?

I heard the other day about a young man who died after taking an overdose of DXM, an ingredient in hundreds of over the counter medications for cough suppression and cold symptom relief. Turns out this substance is an hallucinogenic when taken in high enough doses. Add to this that the American College of Chest Physicians has published guidelines for its members saying there was "no clinical evidence" they worked and you have yet another example of the pharmaceutical industry run amok. Take a look at this. No wonder health care is such a financial burden when you consider the amount of woe brought into lives due to the endless spiral of illness created by the very medical industry pretending to be attending to your health. The ancient civilization had a much better approach. At the end of the year, your doctor was paid only if you were well and in good health the entire year. In today's model, the sicker you are, the more your physician and the medical industry can make off of you. Seems to invert the incentive system from the desired outcome, doesn't it? What can you do to unplug from the health care "matrix"? Being informed is the answer. Ignorance of your own body and its needs and vulnerabilities is what makes the "learned" medical "professionals" able to perpetuate their socio-industrial juggernaut.

Welcome to 2006!

Welcome to the next year of our lives...

Can we know what is in store for us in the next whip around the old Solar System? How will '06 top the extraordinary global events of '05? What in your life, and mine will be memorable enough to be considered when this time rolls around for 2007? And what about your plans? Are you one of those that attempts to declare a new start with the New Year? How will you resolve to do things differently?

For me, I want to see the world become less driven by greed and more driven by compassion. Less concerned about saving face and more about saving lives. Let's lift the lowest among us to heights they have not known, and raise the spirit of all.

Peace on earth and good will to each and every one of you.
