What the Iraq War is Really About

The Bush Regime has quagmired America into a sixth year of war in Afghanistan and Iraq with no end in sight. The cost of these wars of aggression is horrendous. Official US combat casualties stand at 4,538 dead. Officially, 29,780 US troops have been wounded in Iraq.

Words of Wisdom...

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.

Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life would be meaningless.

Do not let your years slip through your fingers by living in the past, nor the future.
By living life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.

Do not dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.

Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going.
Life is not a race, but a journey, to be savored each step of the way.

How Republicans Hijacked the Justice Dept to Swing Elections

The GOP may have committed massive vote fraud in plain sight by encouraging widespread voter purges and restricting registration campaigns. Jim Crow has returned to American elections. The DOJ has stopped enforcing federal laws designed to aid registration. Political appointees have pressured federal prosecutors.

A Message to Senator McCain...

Senator McCain asked a question on a popular professional networking site, linkedin.com. His question was: "What is the biggest challenge America faces?"

I responded, and here is my answer:

message to Sen. McCain on linkedin: 4/11/2008

Sen. McCain, first, thanks for your service to our people and nation.

I believe that America's biggest challenge is the failure to engage in a constructive foreign policy, as opposed to a destructive foreign policy. This has created an economic drain that is clearly unsupportable, and frankly, made America less safe, rather than more safe. We need to change our attitude towards other countries, peoples, religions and thought perspectives, and embrace rather than seek to dominate and destroy them. The strength of our world is in its diversity, and the policy that America is engaged in is one of seeking to render all to follow our "democratic" style of government, which frankly we are still struggling to accomplish.

Another major problem is the faulty technology base we have fostered. Because there has been no holistic analysis of the impact of technology, pollution and depletion of non-renewables is wreaking havoc on the very fabric of the planet. So many species are going extinct and the ecosystem of the planet is in great peril. Like our foreign policy, the blind imposition of our will has run roughshod over the living organism that is the earth and these failed approaches will ultimately be our demise.

Health care is a huge issue. We have gotten that wrong as well. The third leading cause of death is the so-called "health care system" itself. Again the lack of a basic understanding that the human body is a self-correcting system and that provided proper nutrition, clean and natural water and a rational lifestyle, free of technology created pollution, health would naturally follow has led to an undernourished, over-medicated population that is doomed to grow ever sicker and more dependent of the system that is killing it. Cancer and heart disease are completely preventable and that is where the focus should be, not on curing them as those conditions are merely symptoms of the flawed approach to health followed in this country.

So the fundamental problem that America faces is lack of enlightened leadership and the flawed strategy of seeking dominance rather than cooperation, both with the peoples of this world, and the very planet itself.

With respect, Robert Dodson

Torture Drawings the Pentagon Doesn't Want You to See...

Andy Worthington- www.alternet.org - April 11, 2008 - Sami al-Haj is a journalist, but one unlike any other. For over six years since December 15, 2001 -- when he was seized by Pakistani soldiers on the Afghan border while on assignment as a cameraman for the Qatar-based broadcaster al-Jazeera -- he has been in a disturbing but unique position: a trained journalist held as an "enemy combatant" on the frontline of the Bush administration's "War on Terror," first in Afghanistan, and then in Guantánamo.

Your government at work: Drawings by journalist Sami Al-Haj depicting torture at Gitmo have been censored.

Real Men...

In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,' gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines.

In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.)

The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery.

For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation.

What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated.

While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/ sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father.

Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections.

Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country?

After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities.

This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Installing Love...

Installing Love...

Tech Support: Yes, how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to install Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are Running?

Tech Support: What programs are running?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off?

Customer: I don’t Know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased. I loved this!

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, ‘Error – Program not run on external components.’ What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the ‘My Heart’ directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before We hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you.
